suspected Blackwater operatives arrested in Islamabad

Islamabad, Dec. 13 (ANI): Four alleged agents of American spy agency Blackwater were arrested by Pakistani security agencies while they were trying to forcibly trying to enter into Lahore Cantonment on Saturday. According to The Nation, lethal weapons including AK-47 rifles and spy gadgets were recovered from their possession at a checkpost near Sherpao Bridge.
Sources said that security personnel intercepted a suspected vehicle near Sherpao Bridge in which four foreigners were sitting.
The sources further revealed that the suspects started arguing with the law-enforcing agency officials. When the arrested agents failed to produce necessary documents and the purpose of entering into the most sensitive area in the city, they were arrested and taken to an unidentified location for further interrogation.
Following their arrest, the law-enforcement agencies have been put on high alert across the provincial metropolis and armed patrolling had been intensified.
According to sources, some foreigners have rented residential apartments in Cantonment area and the search operation is underway to keep a check on their activities.
In another incident, the police detained a suspected vehicle near Shimla Hill but later the vehicle was released on the intervention of US Consulate high-ups.
The persons who were inside the vehicle refused to allow snap-checking. Some staff members of the US Consulate reached the spot and later the vehicle was released. (ANI)

FACEBOOK SHOWS BIAS: TAKES DOWN POPULAR PAKISTANI FAN-PAGE

Facebook has this morning taken down one of the most popular ‘fan-pages’ on its site without offering as much as an explanation to nearly 20,000 of its members.

The page titled ‘SYED ZAID ZAMAN HAMID: OFFICIAL’ has been taken offline for what Facebook calls ‘violation of terms and conditions’, without providing details as to exactly what term or condition was violated.

Zaid Hamid is Pakistan’s most highly rated and popular Security and Defence analyst, with regular tv appearances on all major Pakistani channels as well as Doha based Al-Jazeera TV and occasionally on Indian media. He has featured in many popular tv shows, covering a wide rage of topics such as Islamic history, philosophy, and regional security and geo-politics. Zaid has also featured alongside Ali Azmat, a veteran of the Pakistani popular music scene, in a show titled ‘Iqbal ka Pakistan’ on the youth-oriented ‘AAG’ tv channel; one of the most watched tv programmes with the highest ratings for the tv network.

Zaid Hamid is one of Pakistan’s most popular figures and has in a very short time become the voice of the youth of Pakistan who feel frustrated at the incompetence of the US installed democratic government. In his tv programmes, Zaid has constantly called for a complete review of Pakistan’s relations with the United States, due to the latter’s inability to purge the influx of weapons and funds from Afghanistan directed to terrorists in Pakistan.

Zaid’s facebook page, launched just over a month ago, had reached almost 20,000 members before it was taken offline by facebook, and was used mainly for updates on upcoming television and public appearances, and sharing photographs and videos of Zaid’s TV appearances.

Facebook have yet to provide an actual explanation as opposed to a generic automated message. Untill the time that facebook provides the exact reason for taking down Mr.Hamid’s page, it will be considered as yet another attempt to silence the critics of the US-backed government of Pakistan and will only add to the disenchangtment of Pakistan’s youth with the current establishment.

Zardari: India destabilising the region

President Asif Ali Zardari has urged United States of America to scrutinise Indian role in the region and must acknowledge that it has from time to time played a destabilising role in the South Asia.
Linking the Kashmir problem with the Middle East conflict, the president also asked the US to demonstrate "neutrality" and step up efforts to mediate on the issue between India and Pakistan.
In an op-ed article "How to Mend Fences With Pakistan" in New York Times, the president also charged India of playing destabilising role in the region and said that the perceived "rhetorical" one-sided American policy often fuels conspiracy theories in Pakistan.
"Public mistrust of the United States also stems from regional issues, specifically policies concerning India. I know it is the conventional wisdom in Washington that my nation is obsessed with India," he wrote.
"But even to those of us who are striving toward accommodation and peace, the long history and the unresolved situation in Kashmir give Pakistanis reason to be concerned about our neighbour to the east."
Just as the Israeli-Palestinian dispute cannot be resolved without accommodating the Palestinian people, "there cannot be permanent regional peace in South Asia without addressing Kashmir," Zardari said.
President also called for allies' help not only in the war on terror, but also in building a new "economically viable and socially robust" Pakistan.
"We are not looking for, and indeed reject, dependency.  We don't need or want (nor would we accept) foreign troops to defeat the insurgency, and we seek trade more than aid from you in the future," he said.
"It is an economically viable and socially robust democratic Pakistan that will be the most effective long-term weapon against terrorism, extremism and fanaticism," he said.
"This is the necessary endgame. And this is how history will judge victory," he added. The president outlined the elected government's agenda and its accomplishments as also the progress made by military in combating the militants. - Online

Obama in Oslo Insults Norwegian King, Journalists and Orphans

US President Barack Obama accepted his Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo on December 10, but acknowledged the controversy over the award. In addition, a scandal marred Obama’s arrival for the official ceremony in Norway. Officials of Obama’s administration canceled the dinner with the Norwegian Nobel Committee, the news conference, the interview for television, the meeting with children, the concert, the attendance of an exhibition organized in honor of the laureate and even the scheduled lunch with the King of Norway.
The fact that Obama canceled the lunch with the King of Norway insulted the whole nation, a Norwegian official said.
"Of all the things he is cancelling, I think the worst is cancelling the lunch with the king," Siv Jensen, the leader of Norway’s largest party in opposition said. "This is a central part of our government system. He should respect the monarchy," The Guardian quoted the official as saying.
Cuba ’s Fidel Castro criticized Obama for accepting the Nobel Peace Prize too. The leader of the Island of Freedom believes that the US president does not deserve such a prize. Castro also criticized Obama for the USA’s new strategy in Afghanistan.
“It seemed to me that day that I was listening to George Bush. His arguments did not differ much from the philosophy of his predecessor except for one fig leaf – Obama condemned tortures,” the ailing Cuban leader wrote for Granma.
“The politics, which the new administration suggests in Afghanistan, does not differ from that of Bush, who ordered to invade Iraq – the country that was not related to the Twin Towers terror acts,” Fidel Castro said.
"Why did Obama accept the Nobel Peace Prize when he'd already decided to fight the Afghanistan war to the last? He wasn't obliged to commit a cynical act," Castro wrote.
"The president of the United States doesn't say a word about the hundreds of thousands of people, including children and innocent elderly people, who have died in Iraq and Afghanistan, and about millions of Iraqis and Afghanis who suffer from consequences of the war, although are do not carry any responsibility for the events in New York,” Castro wrote in his article.
The Cuban leader believes that Obama delivered yet another theatrical speech in Oslo, pronounced a new set of phrases to justify the existence of the imperial superpower that has hundreds of army bases all over the world and 200 years of history of armed invasions.

Allegory about Afghan Shura and Al-Qaeda in Pakistan

Asif Haroon Raja

Like the myth of Osama bin Laden and Al-Qaeda headquartered in FATA which I discussed in my previous write up, another absurd claim has been made that Mullah Omar along with his Shura is based in Quetta. This story woven by spin doctors has caught the imagination of policy makers in Washington and they are playing it impishly. Pakistani leaders already harassed by never ending allegations are at a loss how to respond to the latest assault since denials make no impression on the accusers.
After repeating the story several times, US officials laid bare their actual motive by mentioning their flaming desire to employ the horrible drones in Balochistan including its capital as well. Let us carryout a dispassionate appraisal of this claim. It is now a well known reality that Afghan Taliban hold control of nearly 80% Afghan Territory and wield complete sway in southern, eastern and to some extent western Afghanistan. These regions provide them a secured base to operate into western, central and northern Afghanistan and return back.
Had their hold over southern and eastern Afghanistan been weak, it was logical to assume that they might have made FATA or Pashtun belt of Balochistan adjacent to Helmand Province as their bases of operation. Now that over 30000 troops of Pakistan Army have taken full control of South Waziristan and division plus force is in North Waziristan, part of which is in Makeen area, any possibility of Afghan Taliban operating from these regions is ruled out. Same is applicable to
Al-Qaeda. The only possible space which still requires further scanning is the countryside west of Ladha and Makeen towards Afghanistan border. Using boots on ground strategy, our troops are gradually clearing these areas as well. Within Afghanistan, morale of US-Nato forces has sunk low and bunker mentality has crept in. Karzai regime has no control over state affairs and his credibility after August fraudulent election has eroded further. He is seen as an American stooge at the mercy of non-Pashtun Northern Alliance. Afghan National Army and Police are in bad shape and operationally unfit to confront Taliban challenge. Afghan Pashtuns which are the predominant ethnic entity hate Americans because of their discriminatory attitude against them and are supportive of Taliban. Gulbadin Hikmatyar led Hizb-e-Islami and Jalaluddin Haqqani are also anti-American and anti-Karzai.
Given the favourable operational environment in Afghanistan for the Taliban, it will be utterly foolish on part of Mullah Omar and his Shura to abandon the fully secured bases in Afghanistan and opt for insecure base in Quetta where CIA, FBI, US marines, Blackwater, MI-6, RAW, BLA, BRA, BLF command strong influence. Target killings by BLA in Quetta have become a norm. Jacobabad and Pasni air bases are still under the operational control of US troops as revealed by Lt Gen ® Shahid Aziz and confirmed by Defence Minister. Shamsi base near Kharan had been in use for launching drones. Quetta being the capital city is too open and conspicuous for Mullah Omar to hide particularly when heavy head money for him has been announced and success or failure of Taliban resistance movement depends upon his survivability. Pashtun areas in Balochistan have not only kept themselves dissociated from RAW backed Baloch insurgency, now turned into separatist movement, but also kept both Afghan and Pakistani Taliban at bay. Under such insalubrious environments, it is preposterous for the US to keep insisting that Afghan Shura is in Quetta. Latest fabrication is that Afghan Taliban Shura has shifted to Karachi under the supervision of ISI where Omar has established a madrassa.
If for discussion sake we accept the wacky claims of presence of Afghan Shura in Quetta and that of Osama led Al-Qaeda in FATA theoretically; it implies that as far as US is concerned battle for Afghanistan is almost over. The news should have logically transported Gen McChrystal and his team with joy that the entire Taliban leadership and Al-Qaeda have fled to Pakistan and it will now be much easier for them to get hold of few thousand rag tag Taliban fighters and not more than 100 Al-Qaeda fighters abandoned by their leaders or to win them over? The only precautionary measure required to be taken was to prevent re-entry of Afghan Shura and Al-Qaeda leadership by enhancing border check posts and surveillance means along the entire Afghan-Pakistan border as frequently requested by Pakistan. In addition, he needed to fence and mine the entire length of border as repeatedly proposed by Pakistan but refused by Karzai and USA for reasons best known to them. No such thing has happened since Chrystal is depressed because of Osama phobia. Within Pakistan, once US intelligence agencies acquired credible intelligence, should they not have carried out joint raids on suspected locations without wasting a minute? CIA, FBI and US diplomats should not have encountered any bottlenecks since they move about in Pakistan unchecked and enjoy full cooperation of all law enforcement and intelligence agencies. Was it wise on part of US leadership to broadcast the locations of Omar and Osama prematurely thereby giving them full chance to runaway?
Well knowing that Pakistan Army is deeply committed in fighting foreign agencies sponsored terrorists in various parts of NWFP and FATA and achieving fruitful results, the US instead of feeling mighty pleased and encouraging it to further stabilise these vital regions, it has once again begun to sing the nauseating mantra of ‘do more’ and that too in new areas. Areas in Waziristan which are presently quiet and neutral are being provoked through drone attacks to make them restive. Orakzai Agency is being developed into another bastion. The US is pressing Pakistan to shift more troops from its eastern border and to start operations in Wazir inhabited South Waziristan and in North Waziristan where it alleges most runaways have fled. It is trying to create conditions wherein Pakistan Army is compelled to fight the combined force of Maulvi Nazir, Hakimullah Mehsud and Gul Bahadur. United front would ease up pressure on Hakimullah led TTP, which is in disarray. The US also want the Army and FC in Balochistan to shift its focus from Baloch held areas where RAW-CIA-MI-6 backed separatist movement is raging and to concentrate towards peaceful Pashtun areas including Quetta where it suspects Afghan Shura is hiding. The US-Nato forces after their failed operation in Helmand are expected to launch another operation in that province once additional US troops arrive so as to force the militants to flee to neighbouring Pashtun belt of Balochistan and make it volatile.
Having fully committed the army in fighting a futile US war on terror, RAW sponsored terrorists duly aided by Blackwater elements are playing havoc into major cities of Pakistan through almost daily bomb blasts and suicide attacks. Focus is on such targets which hurts the military the most. Attack on a mosque during Friday prayers in Rawalpindi on 27 November, frequented mostly by army senior officers and their sons, was most gruesome. ISI set ups have been repeatedly struck since it is frustrating the designs of enemies of Pakistan. Focus is now towards destabilisation of Punjab, after which emphasis will shift to Sindh to upturn main economic base of Pakistan. While CIA and FBI along with its shady outfits are fully involved in the destabilisation game, the US leaders are hypocritically singing tunes that Pakistan is a key ally and the US seeks its stability and prosperity. Our leaders having been provided with clinching evidence of involvement of RAW in terrorism have still not picked up courage to expose India and to forcefully ask USA to bridle its strategic ally.
Fact of the matter is that Omar, Osama and nuclear cards are being played with devious intentions. The real purpose behind it is to cast aspersion on Pakistan that Pakistan Army and the ISI are aligned with Afghan Taliban and Al-Qaeda and sheltering them. It implies that there is a nexus between Pakistan-Afghan Taliban and Al-Qaeda and Pakistan is fully supporting Taliban and Al-Qaeda in their war against US-Nato forces in Afghanistan. With leadership of the two deadly organisations based inside Pakistan, it becomes a fit case for USA to mount an offensive against Pakistan to root out safe sanctuaries and turn the corner. Cambodia model is on the cards. Indian forces have begun to mark time in concentration area. Desire for hot pursuit operations inside Pakistan and to extend the radius of action of drones has again been expressed.
The US civil and military leadership instead of wasting time in superfluous blame game and monkey tricks is better advised to concentrate on its work in Afghanistan and put things in order so that Pakistan could become peaceful. Pakistan Army having performed admirably, it is now the turn of Gen McChrystal led US-Nato forces to perform at its end by doing more and creating suitable conditions for safe and honourable exit from the quagmire of Afghanistan.

Indian involvement in Balochistan

Pakistan and India are two important powers of South Asia and have fought three wars since independence. Beside other issues Kashmir has always been a major bone of contention between the two. India has been blaming Pakistan for supporting militants in Kashmir and Pakistan has given proofs of Indian involvement indicted India for supporting the separatist Baloch militants.
Indian involvement in Balochistan is not a new issue. The debate has been on that terrorists there are working on some foreign agenda; foreign hands are providing weapons and funds to insurgents for terrorist activities. Earlier we had been using word "non-state actors" and name of India was not that prominent, but during the NAM summit held in Sharm-el-Sheikh, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani presented dossier to Manmohan Singh with proofs of Indian involvement in Balochistan via Afghanistan. Though the Indian prime minister denied it, yet reference of Balochistan in the joint statement in Sharm-el-Sheikh was a positive outcome for Pakistan. Diplomatically stocks of evidences proving that India is sponsoring terrorism and giving training to terrorists put India on back foot.
Major General Salim Nawaz, inspector general of the Frontier Corps paramilitary force in Balochistan told Reuters that 'A lot of evidence of Indian involvement through Afghanistan is there, supporting the separatist movement'. Nawaz Sharif also said that 'the separatists were not very strong, they don't have enough people or a proper command and that the foreign element is providing them strength. The proof has been given at various levels including photographs and documents.
The publication of the Jain Commission Report for the Indian Government has confirmed whatever we were suspecting in South Asia, that Indian Intelligence service Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) has been conducting destabilisation and violence at the domestic level of south Asian region. India is not only conducting the terrorist activities in Pakistan but it is also involved in spreading violence in Bangladesh, Srilanka, Nepal, Bhuttan and Maldives and there are many evidences about it.
This is not the first time that India is supporting separatist movements in Pakistan; India is repeating the same history as they did in 1971 by supporting the separatist movement in East Pakistan which resulted in the disintegration of Pakistan. But India didn't stop there and now again India is supporting the separatist movement in Balochistan. We cannot deny the fact that these opportunities have been provided to India by political plotting and RAW has always shown quickness in taking advantage of the political ups and down in South Asian region as it's a good tactic to seek the group which can be easily influenced.
From decades RAW has been getting advantage from the domestic issues of Pakistan, whether it was Pakhtunistan issue or the Sindhi language issue, sectarian group issues and now Balochistan issue, all these issues have always provided India a fertile ground for their seeds of violence and terrorism. It was also indicted by Islamabad that RAW has established its training camps in Afghanistan in collaboration with the Northern Alliance remnants. Approximately 600 Ferraris, or Baloch tribal dissidents, are getting specialized training to handle explosives, engineer bomb blasts, and use sophisticated weapons in these camps. India has invested heavily in its old connection with the leaders of the erstwhile Northern Alliance. It has sizeable support in Afghan Parliament and India is gradually increasing the number of its paramilitary personnel in Afghanistan and their motive is to use the Afghan land for conducting terrorist activities in Pakistan and to destabilise Pakistan.
In current year Islamabad claimed that 'Pakistan has found concrete evidence of India's involvement in militancy in South Waziristan and decided to take up the matter with New Dehli', this was disclosed by Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira and military spokesman Major-General Ather Abbas at a press briefing on the progress of operation Rah-e-Nijat. It was the first time in recent times that Pakistan had pointed fingers at India from a forum having representation of political and military leadership. General Abbas said a huge quantity of Indian arms and ammunition, literature, medical equipment and medicines had bee recovered from Sherawangi area, near Kaniguram. He said that foreign office had been informed and the matter would be taken up with the Indian authorities through diplomatic channels. While sources in the Foreign office said a dossier containing proofs of India's involvement in South Waziristan would soon be handed over to officials in New Delhi. Kaira also said that although it had been decided to raise the issue with India, Pakistan would not deviate from the peace process.
The question raises that why India always wanted to get into such activities? The answer seems to be the India's power ambition; India wanted the regional hegemony and recognition as a major global actor since independence. And as India and Pakistan are rivalry states since independence due to this India always wanted to destabilise Pakistan. Islamabad not only suspected Indian involvement in Balochistan but also accused India for conducting terrorist activities in Pakistan which can effect Pakistan relations with other countries and can raise a bad reputation in the international community.
Pakistan has said that she will solve the Balochistan issue on diplomatic channels with India but for solving this issue some steps are needed to be taken on domestic levels. Balochistan has remained a neglected province since independence. It was government responsibility to announce proper budgets for their development. Lack of funds for development and education in this province strengthen the tribe system here and left the common people behind to become an active social part of society. They can't get benefits from the resources of their province. Despite surveillance system, trained terrorist continued to came from Afghanistan border. Unequal distribution of resources in Balochistan erases nationalism and our enemy is taking the advantage of this situation by filling their minds for a separate federation. No doubt, external threats are there but a lot of work is needed to be done to current internal threats.

Whereabouts of Osama Detected

So far Osama bin Laden has continously been used by the US and some western countries as a scapegoat to malign Pakistan which is their target for ‘de-nuclearisation.’ Sometimes, bogey of Bin Laden is raised by their rulers to achieve their goals of external policy, and sometimes to pacify their public including the opposition. In this regard, in its latest report, the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee admitted that in December 2001 Osama bin Laden was within the reach of US troops in Tora Bora when American military leaders did not pursue him, and opened the door for his escape to Pakistan. In fact, the main aim of the report, after eight years was to get favour for President Obama’s decision who has recently announced an increase of additional 30,000 troops to Afghanistan in wake of severe domestic pressure.
As regards Osama, on November 13, 2009 a Reuters report quoting Labeviere’s book “Corridors of Terror” points to negotiations between Osama bin Laden and the CIA, which took place two months prior to the September 11, 2001 attacks-at the American Hospital in Dubai, UAE, while Bin Laden was under a kidney dialysis treatment.
The Christian Science Monitor in its February 06, 2002 edition, while describing the battle at Tora Bora, concluded that Bin Laden escaped to Iran. It had coincided with the US concerns that Iran is harboring Al Qaeda refugees. Most of the political experts agree that the US had deliberately provided Osama a chance to flee.
Bin Laden’s last genuine video appeared in the late 2001 when the CNN in February1, 2009 indicated that he was aged 97-he got diabetes and kidney problems. On December 26, 20001, Egyptian newspaper, Al-Wafd disclosed that a prominent official of the Afghan Taliban movement announced that Osama bin Laden died a natural death. He was buried in Tora Bora.
Meanwhile, while making Osama as a scapegoat, a number of fake video messages were telecast on various TV channels and websites by some elements in order to achieve their political aims. For example, during the November 2004 elections in the United States, a fake video tape helped the ex-president Bush to get lead over John Kerry.
It is well-known that in a tape released on December 27, 2001, the authenticity of which is not in question, Osama denied any involvement in the September 11 tragedy. However, later, two video tapes appeared to validate his guilt in relation to 9/11 because the main aims of the Bush administration were to provoke American public against the Muslims and Arabs to justify the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq in order to possess energy resources of Central Asia and Iraq—and to get their support for a propaganda campaign against a ‘nuclearised’ Pakistan, and a prospective atomic power, Iran. Besides other actions of Bush era such as persecution of Muslims through torture, detentions and arrests, CIA and FBI-operated facilities, radicalising the Americans against Muslims protected the real architects of the 911 attacks, while still there is no evidence that Al Qaeda was behind that catastrophe, though this organisation is responsible for a number of terror-attacks.
To what extent Osama could be used to gain political purposes can be judged from the statement of British Prime Minister, Gordon Brown who revealed on November 29, 2009, “We believe, he is in Pakistan.” As a matter of fact, in line of Obama’s new Afghan strategy, Brown wanted to justify 500 additional troops for Afghanistan in face of demestic pressure. Meanwhile, the US National Security Adviser Gen. James Jones has also expressed similar view.
In the past, some foreign sources had pointed out that Osama bin Laden is in Chitral area of Pakistan. Recently, American and British high officials have been blaming that Osama and top leadership of Al Qaeda have taken shelter in Pakistan’s tribal areas and Balochistan.
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Foreign Office spokesman Abdul Basit while refuting these allegations, remarked that the US and UK should share evidence with Islamabad regarding bin Laden’s presence in Pakistan, but they did not provide any proof in this respect.
Now, again Osama has become a scapegoat of the foreign elements to implicate Islamabad. But Bin Laden cannot take shelter in Pakistan where CIA-operated drone strikes have killed many top commanders of the Taliban, especially Naik Muhammad and Baitullah Mehsood. Moreover, since 9/11, Pakistan’s security agencies also captured many masterminds of Al-Qaeda, namely Khalid Sheikh, Abu Faraj and a computer engineer Naeem Noor Khan including other militants. Owing to these ground realities, Taliban leaders had already fled to Afghanistan where they have control over more than 70 percent of the territory. Especially, during the successful Swat-Malakand military operations, the Taliban commander, Maulana Fazalullah escaped to Afghanistan who was recently seen in a video-tape, telecasted by some TV channels. Since the recent military action started in South Waziristan, remaining leaders of the insurgents have also gone to Afghanistan. In this respect, question arises as to how Osama could be hiding in Pakistan, while Al Qaeda or Taliban commanders prefer to live in Afghanistan where they are more safe, and where they have been fighting against the US-led NATO forces, and where level of militancy has increased in 2009 as admitted by western high officials and military commanders.
On July 12, 2009, Pakistan’s Interior Minister, Rehman Malik clarified that Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden and its other top operatives were hiding in Afghanistan, probably in Kunar area.
Even if Osama is alive, and is in Afghanistan, he cannot hide himself from Indian secret agency, RAW which has expanded its clandestine networks everywhere in connivance with the Indian army and additional consulates which are also working covertly. India has spent millions of dollars in Afghanistan to strengthen its grip. New Delhi which wants to get strategic depth against Pakistan, and has also been acting upon anti-China policy—is determined to keep its security agencies there permanently under the cover of the US-led allied forces. Under the pretext of Talibinisation of Afghanistan and Pakistan, India has already been fulfilling its secret stragic goals by supporting insurgency in Pakistan’s Frontier Province and Balochistan. RAW has been sending militants along with arms to Pakistan so as to attack the security personnel including western nationals. During the Swat-Malakand and South Waziristan operations, ISPR spokesman, Maj-General Athar Abbas has shown to the media, huge cache of arms and ammuniton, entering Pakistan from Afghanistan. Recently, Pakistan’s prime minister and foreign minister have disclosed that India is backing the militancy in our country.
While American high officials and British prime minister are hinting at the whereabouts of Osama in Pakistan to achieve their covert goals, but RAW might have already kidnapped him from Afghanistan so as to fulfill Indian sinister aims against Islamabad and Beijing, besides prolonging occupation of Kashmir—and also to distort the image of Pakistan in the western capitals by keeping their hostile propaganda alive.
Now, Osama Bin Laden could better serve Indian shrewd diplomacy of entrapping the US and NATO troops in Afghanistan permanently because the US President Obama has announced the withdrawal of forces from that country from July 2011. In this context, prior to his recent trip to America, Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had called for the US pressure on Islamabad to curb extremists. He also said that he would encourage the US leadership to stay in Afghanistan. No doubt, by setting aside Pakistan’s successful military operations against the militants, and Islamabad’s offers for resumption of dialogue, the major aim of Singh’s trip was to indoctrinate American high officials through Indian propaganda that Pakistan has been sponsoring terrorism against Afghanistan and India as pointed out through his statements before American media.
If US-led NATO forces withdraw from Afghanistan, Karzai regime will fall like a house of cards due to the Taliban insurgency. Therefore, New Delhi wants to get the US entangled in Afghanistan to achieve its secret aims at the cost of American interests by implicating Pakistan and China—and thus wants to get further benefits from America and other developed countries so as to become a superpower of Asia.
Sometimes surprises happen in world politics which is an arena of great complications, and states’ shrewd strategies are followed by all unfair means. In this regard, renowned thinker, Morghenthau, while echoing the thoughts of Machiavelli remarks that sometimes rulers have to act upon immoral activities like falsehood, deceit and theft.
In this connection, India is determined to obtain its inter-related aims to dominate other regional countries. Particularly, it considers Pakistan an obstacle in its way. So New Delhi might have decided to use Bin Laden a scapegoat to fulfill its all designs. If Osama is alive, he could definitely be under the custody of Indian RAW because New Delhi knows that western countries can never suspect it regarding his whereabouts.

India Maoist conflict 'affects children's education

The ongoing conflict between Maoists and government forces is disrupting the education of India's most marginalised children, a rights group says.
In a new report Human Rights Watch has urged the rebels to stop attacking state-run schools.
It has also asked the government to instruct its troops not to use school buildings as part of their operations.
The rebels are fighting for communist rule in many Indian states. Over 6,000 people have died in the 20-year fight.
The rebels have a presence in more than 223 of India's 600-odd districts across 20 states, according to the government.
Human Rights Watch says school children - often from the poorest families - are suffering in specific ways.
The Maoists have attacked schools as symbols of state power in rural area - a total of 14 schools have been attacked in the states of Jharkhand and Bihar alone over the past month.
'Important'
The group is also critical of the government for inviting rebel attacks by stationing security personnel inside school buildings - sometimes while lessons are taking place in neighbouring classrooms.
"We hear again and again from the government here that the Naxalites [as Maoists are called in India] cannot be defeated by force alone, that they are only going to be defeated by targeted development assistance to these areas," writer of the report Bede Sheppard said.
"If that is the case then the government has to recognise that having access to quality education is an important part of any progress."
For months now there have been rumours of a big paramilitary offensive by government forces in remote but vast jungle areas where the rebels have free rein.
The fear is that if that happens the disruption to the education of some of India's most disadvantaged children will become even worse.
The insurgents wield most influence in areas which are mostly poor and dominated by tribes people.
They are also areas widely seen as being rich in mineral wealth which the Maoists say is being handed over to corporate firms while the poor remain deprived.

CIA's Taliban Proxies Will Never Snatch Pakistan's Nukes!

The prime minister is dead right. Sure, Pakistan is not a vegetable that any Tom, Dick or Harry of this world could think of snatching. Not even the Taliban. And if some of them try, they too, will discover what a pipe dream it was. For in its military, Pakistan has a strong defender. At its hands, the Taliban have learned a chastising lesson in Swat, Malakand and Bajaur - and they are now feeling the heat in South Waziristan, Khyber, Kurram and Orakzai Agencies.
These Taliban proxies of alien intelligence agencies such as India's RAW [Research and Analysis Wing] - and not excluding the American CIA - may bloody this nation for a time with their thuggish assaults. But the idea of their capturing Pakistan is completely out of the question. They are not capable of it. The Pakistan army is there, always, to put them down.
It's only the Americans, their Western allies, their media and their think-tank mouthpieces that hold up this hobgoblin to achieve their unspoken objectives. In their sights is Pakistan's nuclear prowess - which they find so hard to stomach that they want to snatch it away.

Speciously and deceitfully therefore, they parade this patently foolish specter of our nuclear prowess falling into Taliban hands, knowing full well that this nation would take no chances of such a thing ever occurring. Certainly, they couldn’t be oblivious to how vital these assets are to Pakistan's defense and territorial integrity, nor to how carefully it has secured them.
Of course, Pakistan is now blighted by extremism, militancy and terrorism. But this hasn't always been the case. Like other nations, Pakistan, too, has had its ups and downs. Some ups that were so glorious that in the 1960s, Pakistan was held up as a model of economic development for developing countries around the world - and South Koreans have never hesitated to admit that their economic miracle was based on the Pakistan Planning Commission's blueprint for economic development. For decades, Pakistan was respectfully viewed as the most forward-looking, tolerant and moderate of Muslim nations.
It fell on bad times when self-serving military dictator General Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq lent his back to Americans so they could take a ride and avenge their Vietnam humiliation with the Soviet invaders of Afghanistan. It is they who torpedoed the Pakistan polity’s predominant tolerance and moderation, injecting it with the poison of religious fanaticism and militancy. They roped in zealots from around the world and planted them here to fight their Afghanistan proxy war. And they mustered up Saudi and Arab cash for establishing madrassas [Muslim Schools considered militant] here to produce new fanatics to fight their war. And once the Soviets withdrew from Afghanistan, they just forgetfully departed, leaving Pakistan to contend with these human time bombs that continue to torment our people.
Another self-serving dictator, General Pervez Musharraf, hopped on to their spurious war-on-terror bandwagon, giving them a free run of the country, making a vegetable of us by treating our land as a colony and our people as colonized slaves. They continue to have all kinds of agencies here, with a free hand to indulge in all kinds of shenanigans. They move freely across our land doing whatever they like. This is particularly true of the CIA, with its indelible notoriety for meddling in the politics of foreign countries, engineering coups against undesirable foreign governments, sponsoring political assassinations and operating murder squads in foreign lands.
And although Pakistan's state authorities are in denial, America’s notorious private security service "Blackwater," now renamed "Xe," may be operating here as well, since this murderous outfit was overwhelmingly represented among the 75,000 private security contractors on the CIA payroll in Afghanistan.

In any case, there are sure to be more clandestine CIA activities following President Obama’s speech on his new Afghan policy. In Afghanistan he appears to be in a no-win situation. And in all probability, Pakistan will be made to pay the price, not least by becoming the scapegoat, as it is now, of his failures in that country.
One thing seems certain: CIA drone attacks are being extended to Baluchistan as well. American diplomats are already preparing the ground for this, by alleging that the Quetta Shura [the Taliban's ruling council] isn't just made up of Afghan Taliban, but al-Qaeda too. It is now up to the prime minister to keep Pakistan from becoming more of an American vegetable. Surely, it has already become enough of one.

The Secret Life of Drones

The White House has made a large, public presentation to the American people on the War in Afghanistan.  Operation Cobra's Anger, as the current offensive tactic is named, is already underway.  But amid the Administration's public stance on that war, an escalating secret war in Pakistan is mostly going without comment.
The New York Times reports that the CIA plans to increase the number of drone attacks used in Pakistan and since the CIA not part of our military, this is technically not an expansion of the Afghanistan War nor is it grounds for politicians to openly address.
But its not just the CIA who is taking part in the drone bombing campaign.  Jeremy Scahill of the Nation reports that a secret part of the military called the US Joint Special Ops Command is working with infamous military contractor Blackwater to carry out their mission.
Here to discuss the matter publicly with Rachel is New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof, Princeton's Melissa Harris-Lacewell, and NY Democratic Congressman Anthony Weiner.
